The 2026 Men’s College World Series is right around the corner.
While the full field of 64 will be announced on Monday, May 25 (Selection Monday, so to speak), teams are already securing automatic bids to the tournament. In total, 29 automatic bids are at stake, based on the results of various conference tournaments across the country. Yale was the first team to get a bid, as the winner of the Ivy League, followed by Holy Cross of the Patriot League.
On Friday night, Lamar joined the field, building on an impressive six-game run in the Southland Conference tournament to secure a spot. The Cardinals lost their first game in the losers’ bracket, then won four straight games in the losers’ bracket to keep their hopes for a conference title alive.
We’ll keep track of all automatic bids for the Men’s College World Series here.
