The marines attached to the Marine Wing Support Squadron 272 and the air station of the Marines New River Corps, North Carolina, are responding as part of a request from the National Security Department (DHS).
The Secretary of Defense, Sean Parnell, requested a backup in support of the application of immigration and customs of the United States in Florida, Louisiana and Texas with critical administrative and logistics capabilities in locations indicated by ICE.

Parnell approved a mobilization of 700 in total to include active forces, the National Guard and Reserve. The Marines are in the first wave of Usnorthcom’s support.
“The members of the service who participate in this mission will carry out duties strictly not fulfilled within the ICE facilities. Their roles will focus on administrative and logistics tasks, and are specifically prohibited from direct contact with the show of the specification of the spectacle of Specessospenspenspenspens in Ice, a statement issued by Usnorlhcom.
Parnell declared in his statement that support will relieve part of unnecessary tension in the application of the law.

“This support provides critical resources to support the ICE mission, freeing the law personnel to focus on the tasks and missions of application of the law. The department remains committed to ensuring the 100% border operational control,” the statement said.
The United States Air Force and Navy also have tasks on federal land positions along the southern border, under a directive by the Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseeth.
The area, a stretch of approximately 250 miles, located in the Cameron and Hidalgo counties of Texas, is transferred to the control of the Air Force and will fall under the jurisdiction of the San Antonio joint base. It will be managed as part of a recently established national defense area (NDA).

In June, a battalion or 500 American marines mobilized Los Angeles in response to the application of the Anti -Inmigrant Law, causing a protest of liberal critics such as the governor of California Gavin Newsom, filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration.

The governor’s office minimized the movement of the troops and called it “completely unnecessary.”
The movements are part of a broader mission administered by the Joint-South Task Force (JTF-BSB), a joint effort between the Air Force and the Northern United States Command to consolidate and strengthen the military presence along the border.
