Police say that a failure made on Tuesday has been made, one day after an executive of “American Idol” and her husband were found shot dead and dead in her oak home.
Robin Kaye and her husband, Thomas Deluca, both 70 years old, were identified as victims of the shooting by the Los Angeles Police Department on Tuesday afternoon. Police said Raymond Boodarian, 22, was arrested at home on Tuesday and reserved under suspicion of murder.
The victims were found after the officers were called the house in the 4700 block of White Oak Avenue at dawn on Monday for a welfare check, police said. Both Kaye and Deluca were declared dead on the scene.
Duration their investigation, the detectives reviewed surveillance videos, spoke with friends and family and discovered a previous radio call for a possible suspect of theft at the house on July 10 at 4 PM, according to a LAPD press release.
At that time, the police said they could not enter the property because it was “very fortified,” said Lieutenant Guy Golan. They made an elevated step with an aircraft, which did not reveal any obvious signal or forced entrance, said.
They ended up clearing the scene, but when looking at the surveillance images of that day, they discovered that the suspect climbed a fence to reach the property.
“While there were no forced entry signs or problems in the duration of the location of that investigation, it is now believed that the suspect had entered the residence and unlocked,” said LapD’s statement.
Police said Kaye and Deluca returned home while Boodarian was inside, which led to a confrontation that resulted in a shooting. They were found in separate rooms and shot him several times on his leg. The suspect fled the area on foot.
It was arrested Tuesday by LAPD detectives and members of a FBI fugitive working group after they used the security camera video and facial recognition software to identify it.
The judicial records show that it has an extensive history of violent crimes, but that the charges in those cases were removed anyway.
