An explosion in a training installation of the Sheriff’s department of Los Angeles County left three dead agents on Friday, authorities said.
The explosion was reported just before 7:30 am Pacific and occurred at the Biscail Center Academy in East La, which opened in 2017.

The Sheriff’s department identified them as detectives Joshua Kelley-Klund, Victor Lemus and William Osborn.

Senior officials in charge of enforcing the law that were informed about the investigation told CBS News that the Lasd bomb team responded to a Santa Monica garage where at least one grenade was found on Thursday. The Granada was transported to the Sheriff’s biscail training installation, where today they work to make it safe, and exploded.
According to a LASD spokesman, the explosion occurred in the parking lot of the Special Control Office in the facilities. Later on Friday afternoon, officials in charge of enforcing the law said that it seemed that a job was being done to make the recovered grenade safe before exploiting.
After the explosion on Friday morning, a working group composed of the Bomb Squad of the Los Angeles Police Department, ATF, FBI and Lasd returned to the Santa Monica neighborhood to comply with the order to find additional explosive materials, LASD said.
The researchers have not determined whether the devices found in the Santa Monica garage yesterday had any correlation with the explosion of Friday, according to LASD. Police evacuated residents in the complex and is trying to locate a shelter for them.
In a statement published in X, the Attorney General of the United States, Pamela Bondi, said the federal agents were on the scene.
“I just talked to [U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli] About what seems to be a horrible incident that killed at least in a training center in the law in Los Angeles, “he said. Our federal agents are on the scene and we are working to learn more. Pray for the families of the agents of the Sheriff killed.”
The name of the Secretary of National Security Kristi said that the agency was working with the Local and Federal Police to respond to the incident.
The mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass, confirmed that LAPD researchers were helping at the scene.

The LAPD chief Jim McDonnell confirmed that the department helped by sending the pump team, Swat and the K-9 teams.
“We sympathize with the colleagues of the Sheriff’s department who last this incredible difficult moment and we are still ready to help in any way we can,” he said.

The Office of the Governor of California, Gavin Newsom, said it was informed about the situation and was sacrificing the full state assistance for the response.
California State University, Los Angeles, which is just north of the installation, issued a statement pointing out that there was no threat to the campus. A parking lot on campus is being used as a staging area for the department of the Sheriff. At the press conference, Luna confirmed that there was no threat in the community.
The president of the Board of Supervisors of the County of the, Kathryn Barger, said in a statement that she was monitoring the situation and offered her condolences to the affected families.
“I am disconsolate when listening to the terrible tragedy that has been developed today at the facilities of the department of the County Sheriff of the LA. I am closely tracking the situation as we learn more about the occurrence and condition of those affected,” he said. “My heart is heavy, and my although they are with the brave men and women of the department of the Sheriff Duration at this difficult time. The ATF deployed its national response team to investigate the explosion. The NRT was deployed in the terrorist attack of September 11 to the Pentagon, the bombing of Oklahoma City and the bombing of the centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta. The team was more recently deployed from the explosion of mortal fireworks Northern California.
