Turner has raced in the last two Commonwealth Games for Jersey and finished 26th as a teenager at the 2018 Games on Australia’s Gold Coast.
But with the sport removed from the reduced program for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, its focus will be on longer distance events for the foreseeable future.
“At the moment I will be focusing on long distance triathlon and I get to represent Jersey there, which is unique and cool,” he said.
“So I want to get to the world championship and my aim is to put Jersey on the map in that way.
“If I could get a top 10 at a world championship, it would be absolutely incredible.
“I have represented Great Britain over 30 times in the last five years and I would choose to represent Jersey any day of the week,” he added.
“That’s where I’m from, I’m proud to be from Jersey and to wear those colors – there’s nothing more special to me.
“I always try to get the commentator to say I’m from Jersey, not Britain.”
