Great Britain and Northern Ireland’s mixed 4x400m team won bronze at the World Athletics Relays in Botswana, while four other teams from Great Britain also qualified automatically for the 2027 World Athletics Championships.
Alex Haydock-Wilson, Lina Nielsen, Jake Minshull and Yemi Mary John finished third in three minutes and 8.24 seconds, behind the United States and Jamaica.
A place on the podium qualifies the mixed 4×400 team for the first World Ultimate Athletics Championships to be held in Budapest in September.
GB’s men’s 4x100m, women’s 4x400m and mixed 4x100m lineups advanced to Sunday’s final from Saturday’s heats, earning them a place in Beijing next year.
The women’s 4x100m team, which was disqualified after finishing second in the first day’s heat, came second in its repechage on Sunday to claim one of the four remaining places for the World Championships.
However, the men’s 4x400m quartet, who finished seventh in their first race, came third in their repechage and will be praying to qualify in time for Beijing at a later date.
The women’s 4x400m team finished fourth, while the men’s and mixed 4x100m teams failed to take the baton in their finals.
British athletes won medals in all five relay events at the Paris 2024 Olympics but failed to make the podium at last year’s World Championships in Tokyo.
