
Hayward-a 36-year-old man was arrested and accused in the February death of a woman who was killed when she was hit by the suspect’s vehicle while crossing a street, according to the authorities and judicial records.
Kelvin Leovander, who is not a resident of the city, is accused of vehicular homicide with serious negligence and abandoning the scene of an accident that caused a death.
A search in prison records on Friday morning did not show it in custody.
The collision, which occurred around 7:53 am February 10 near the intersection of Tennyson Road and Calaga Avenue, killed Lydia Guerra, 26, or Hayward. It was found without responding and was tasks of a hospital, where it died later.
According to the police, Leovander was arrested at the scene and then waiting for mental health in a hospital. Once from the hospital, he was arrested, but again he was discharged waiting for a greater investigation, authorities said.
Police said the officers conducted comprehensive investigation, which included collecting and analyzing tests, reconstruction of the scene and the dynamic evaluations of the vehicle. After the necessary monitoring was carried out, a court order was issued for Leovander’s trial, accusing him of the two crimes.
Police learned that Leovander had abandoned the State, but was scheduled to return to Oakland on April 4. In collaboration with the Alameda County Sheriff’s office, Leovander was arrested at Oakland International Airport.
