Mark English became the first Irish to break a 44 second minute in the 800m, since it produced an excellent race in the FBK games in the Netherlands.
The 32 -year -old registered a new national record time of 1: 43.92 in a brilliant victory in the World Athletics Continental Gold Series series on Monday.
That exceeded the record he had established only 10 days ago or 1: 44.34 when he won in Bydgoszcz, Poland.
The two actions were an improvement in their own previous record of 1: 44.53, which was established in June 2024 in Madrid.
Monday’s victory is the third outdoor victory of the Donegal athlete season after he won at the Sound Ring Packing Fest in Los Angeles last month.
In March, English, a European bronze of 800m to bring its European medals account to five.
Also on Monday, Orla Comerford won the 100m female para-Atletics in the best time of the 11.96 seconds season, 0.06 seconds in the best personal way of the Paralympic bronze medalist.
