“Knowing that, in all these main championships, I am one meter from everything, at the Commonwealth Games it was one meter from a medal, the world championship in 2022 was a meter of making the final, last year I was a meter of making the saying.
“You are trying to find out what that additional meter will give me to take me to that final, get a medal around my neck, let me be competitive against these sport giants.”
After having been selected as part of the team of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the World Athletics Championship of this month in Tokyo will give you another opportunity to try to break its enigma of 100 cm.
“It’s exciting,” said Percy. “It’s a bit scary, but I also have the leg trying to find a way not to exert that pressure now, because for me a world championship is still another step from where I am, in recent years.
“So this is still part of the trip and advances to next year with the Europeans and the Commonwealth games.
“That is the standard where I can definitely excel and grow, and still keep looking at the future where these great opportunities are going to be.”
The 30 -year -old is second in the album classification of all time in the United Kingdom, with a distance of 67.86m.
While that is very impressive in its own right, it is almost eight meters from the world record (75.56m), which is in the hands of Mykolas Alekna de Lithuania.
Percy, who hopes to challenge the podium at the Commonwealth games next year in his hometown, says there are pros and cons that come with the bee starts from an “incredible” time for the event.
“Unfortunately, I am in the golden time of the album in the world, where I think, even with 67 million this year, I am eighth in the Commonwealth Games,” he explained.
“But I am crying internally because it is time to be part of it: when 10 years ago I would be seen as one of the greatest sport and now I consider myself a lot in the middle of the road, but you cannot choose the time you have it.”
