The English Black, Richardson and Hylton Plus Welsh Dúo Thomas and Baulch received their gold medals delayed at the meeting of the Diamond League on Saturday at a London stadium with exhausted tickets.
“It’s a leg that hangs from us for a long time. A long time. I mean, 28 years is a long time, so yesterday it really completed it. It was great,” Black added.
“Somehow, it was more special because we were there with our families and our children, who obviously were not born at that time.
“I think Jamie had a baby then, but we could share it with our families and you can’t do that, right?
“In addition, what is more important, we share it with 60,000 British fans there and many of them supported us in the past.
“I think that gathering that, it was a surprisingly emotional moment and we loved it. It was really special.”
Cherry Alexander, the strategic leader of the United Kingdom athletics for the main events, said: “We are proud to be able to give these athletes their moment in front of a local crowd.
“It is an opportunity to recognize not only their talent, but the values they represented. This medal also means more for how long they have waited for it.”
