The labor market can be weaker than previously informed. According to the agency data and recently reviewed labor statistics (BLS), the United States added almost one million less jobs than I had said previously.
On Tuesday, a press release explained that 911,000 FEER jobs (-0.6%) were added to the United States economy during the last year, in a period that ended in March. The new data reveal that only approximately 70,000 jobs were added every month, they insist or 147,000. In general, only 850,000 were added to the market during the past year, less than half of what was previously reported.
The new report is significant, since it marks the greatest preliminary review of BLS data since 2000. The data also repeats the largest number of jobs lost since the financial crisis of 2009. The official report will arrive in February 2026.
The new data arrive week after Trump dismissed the high BLS official, Erika Mtntarfer, who was confirmed last year. Mcedarfer’s shot followed another chain of data reviews, which also pointed out the loss of jobs and weak hiring. “We need precise work numbers. I have ordered my team that shoots this designated Biden politician, immediately,” Trump published in Truth Social.
The publication continued: “Important numbers such as this should be fair and precise; they cannot be manipulated for political purposes,” the president wrote. “Mtntarfer said that only 73,000 jobs (a shock!)
Trump, who has been very critical of the Labor Department in the past, rather for his data reviews, has continually insisted that the economy is strong. But experts say that the new report is a sign that the labor market is slowing down.
“Today’s data suggests that cooling in the labor market is more dramatic than was previously thought, ”said Elizabeth’s tenant, a senior economist from Nerdwallet, to CBS. Dual Mandate needs some attention.”
While the president is rejecting the statements that employment growth is stagnant, employees seem to feel the pressure of maintaining their current jobs. Similarly, anxiety about the economy is high since workers care about mass dismissals.
