The new two stop rule for the Monaco Grand Prix of Formula 1 may not have improved the “racing show” as expected by the governing body of the sport, but the sport saw an improvement in another area.
Qualifications.
ESPN launched its audience numbers for this year’s Monaco Grand Prix, which was issued in ABC, informing a great leap on the record audience last year. According to a network statement, an average of 2.3 million spectators tuned the “career alone” part of the transmission. ESPN points out that it represented the largest American television audience for the Monaco Grand Prix, ahead of the 2.0 million 2024, and is the third largest live television audience in the United States for an F1 race.
Only the Miami Grand Prix last year (3.1 million viewers) and the first Miami Grand Prix in 2022 (2.6 million viewers) led this year’s Monaco Grand Prix.
The statement also noted that F1 transmissions in ABC, ESPN and ESPN2 are averaging 1.3 million viewers per race, more than 1.1 million a year ago. 2022 saw the highest average spectators, with 1.2 million adjustment in per race.
These numbers arrive in the last year of the current network contract with F1 to transmit careers in the United States. In the Miami Grand Prix earlier this month, the president and CEO of F1, Stefano Domenicali, told the media, including SB nationThat “discussions” existed with respect to the future of transmission rights in the United States, and that “several partners” are interested.
Numbers like this can only increase interest.
