On Monday, Julie Vanloo landed in San Francisco after winning the Eurobasket championship with Belgium, just to know that she had been renounced by the Valkyries of Golden State.
The 32 -year -old guard resorted to social networks to express its disappointment that the Belgium Championship parade was lost, just to know that it was no longer part of the future of the Valkyries.
Three days later, however, Vanloo received great news: Los Angeles Sparks were signing her.
Vanloo made his debut in the WNBA in 2024, averaging 7.4 points and 4.3 assists for play for the Washington Mystics.
In December, the Valkyries selected Vanloo in their expansion draft, and she appeared in 9 games before heading abroad for Eurobasket.
While he had gone, the Valkyries signed the rookie Kaitlyn Chen, whom they drafted 30 in April. Chen, who currently remains on the list, averaged 4.3 points in 19.3 minutes per game, shooting 60% from the field and 50% of three.
The sparks will benefit from Vanloo’s shooting and creation
The Sparks, which currently have a 5-12 record, have been led by Kelsey Plum and Odyssey Sims on the background. Sims, however, was renounced earlier this week after averaging 9.8 points per game in 12 games. The plum is averaging 20.6 points, 5.6 assists and 1.5 robberies.
Vanloo will provide Lynne Roberts with another guard who can handle the ball and space the floor. Vanloo has triggered 30.8% of three in his career in the WNBA. He also averaged the second largest amount of assists (4.3) per game among rookies last year.
“We are excited to get it,” Roberts said before Thursday’s game between the Sparks and Freedom of New York, by Myles Ehrlich of Winsidr. “One thing we need is a three -point constant shooting. She brings that. She is super fighter, she is a winner. When we played Golden State, she hit about four in 70 seconds.”
Vanloo is ready to make his debut in the sparks Thorsday Night.
