A hard reality of the WNBA training camp is that most artifactor centers and signs without demand will not make the opening lists of their equipment. Allhoug WNBA WNBA lists have a limit of 12 players, most teams keep their lists to 11 players to have more space flexibility in the lid. With 18 players generally signed at the beginning of the training camp, the teams usually cut about 7 players during the two -week training camp newspaper.
Often, that means that between 8 and 10 players compete for 1-2 Roser points at the end of the day. When the cuts begin to make the equipment of the training camp, they occur rapidly. The coaches are anxious for their lists to begin to plan the season, and unfortunately, that means that the Couts have already begun to be unnoticed, it is only the third day of the camps.
It starts as early as Thursday, when the Las Vegas Aces renounced Elena Tsineke. The Greek player was recruited by Washington Mystics in 2023 and has not yet found a permanent place in a WNBA list. The ACES then renounced the 6 -foot striker Jordyn Jenkins on Wednesday.
On Saturday, the day before the training camps began, the Connecticut sun resigned from Morgan Mally after registering it in a rookie scale contract the previous week. For Monday, the Sun had made two more cuts, renouncing My Hollingshed and Abbey Hsu from his list.
The players cut from the WNBA lists so far (updated on Wednesday, April 30)
- My Hollingshed (Connecticut Sun)
- Abbey Hsu (Connecticut Sun)
- Elena Tsineke (Aces de Las Vegas)
- Jordyn Jenkins (Aces de Las Vegas)
These cuts generally come in some waves, and the first is this first week of camp. The players that the team knows with certainty won that the list is cut before starting to travel for preseason games.
The opening day lists are common due to the day before the season begins, so the last wave of cuts of the last days of the preseason occurs. It gets more emotional as the training camp progresses, and players can feel how close the team are.
The expansion has relieved this load a bit, with 12 new technically open list points with the addition of the Golden State Valkyries. Next season, 24 additional list points cannot be used as Toronto and Portland enter the League official.
With this wave of expansion, it seems that we are entering a new era of the WNBA, where the teams will have time and space to develop young talents. It is a bit risky at this time, knowing that the player you spend developing this season can be collected in the expansion draft. However, in general, it only means that more women will have a shot to play in the League.
The preseason games in the WNBA begin on Friday, and for the first time, all of them will be avializable to see at home. This also means that more cuts of the list are surely on their way as one of the training camps continues. We will update the list above as continuous cuts.
