Harvey Weinstein’s trial of sexual crimes begins on Tuesday, with a new witness ready to accuse the magnate of the album movie to force her to a sick encounter at a Manhattan hotel.
Three accusers in total will face the producer of “Pulp Fiction”, whose sentence of 2020 in the apogee of the #MeToo movement was exaggerated in appeal, in a trial that will last more than a month.
Two of the women, Miriam “Mimi” Haley and Jessica Mann, will take the position again to describe how they were sexually assaulted by Weinstein, 73, the Kingpin of Hollywood that was once powerful that has been Accusptby.
A third woman, who has not been publicly identified, will testify that Weinstein forced her to have oral sex in a Manhattan hotel in 2006, prosecutors say.
The jury selection will begin on Tuesday.
The former Miramax chief had been sentenced to 23 years after bars in the case of Manhattan after a dramatic trial in which prosecutors alleged that Weinstein took advantage of vulnerable women who sought him to advance their careers.
But the Higher Appeals Court of New York reversed the conviction in April 2024, discovering that the judge of first instance had to unfairly testify to three additional women, he only thought that Weinstein was not accused of his accusations.
Weinstein was sentenced separately by rape in California after an Italian model testified that she threatened her after appearing without inviting her hotel room, an Italian film festival in 2013. The convict sex plague was sitting at 16 years.
Weinstein is considered the boy from the #Metoo Anti-Sex-Harassment Revolution. His first test presented women’s boxes dancing and singing out of Courthhouse in Flash Mob’s protests against sexual violence.
The former lawyers of the head of study have argued that the public protest contaminated the jury and frustrated Weinstein’s right to a fair trial.
“Five years ago, when you were here, there were protests, there were people singing” Fry Harvey, “Weinstein’s lawyer, Weinstein’s lawyer, Aidala, said last week.
“There was #Metoo, Oprah Winfrey, and there, you know, all these people were so against him. The jurors had to be terrified if they had acquitted him about the rejection of their own and their communities,” Aidala.
“I think it has generally calmed down. We have bigger things than to worry with stock markets and wars abroad, and I think it is a different environment.”
He is an uncle if Weinstein will choose to testify. The three accusers that the Court of Appeals in a 4-3 division fails a judge in deceleration rugged as “disturbing”, which said unfairly in the first trial won the stand this time.
“We are going to prove the case on the facts and the accusations, and nothing more,” said the judge of the Supreme Court of Manhattan, Curtis Farber, during the hearing last week.
Weinstein faces up to 25 years in prison for two positions of first -degree criminal sexual law, and four years in prison for a third degree violation position.
Their lawyers are expected to argue at the trial that women consented to sexual encounters.
