The drama continues to build in the council of the City Council of District 3 of San José, with the latest results that show another swing who could enter a runoff for the seat with the favorite Gabby Chavez-López.
After Monday’s vote, the president of Google Engineer and the city planning commission, Anthony Tordillos, jumped to second place for a vote on Matthew Quevedo, the deputy director of Cabinet of the Mayor of San José, Matt Mahan, marking the second time he has exceeded a deficit in the last week.
“We must tell everything and there is more to tell,” said Tordillos spokesman Kurt Frewing. ” We have crushed special interests and expert expectations and hope this process will develop. “
Chávez-López has led to the herd of seven people to replace the former member of the Torres Torres council, who last week did not declare the competence of the positions of sexual abuse that invested a minor after giving up renouncing the delay in November.
The remaining places in the race have remained virtual without changes, with former district challenger 3 Irene Smith in fourth place with 16%, followed by Adam Duran, Tyrone Wade and Phil Dolan.
Smith has admitted that the Seat of District 3 has become a three-horse race between Chávez-López, Tordillos and Quevedo.
“Just although there is uncertainty about who will come second in the primary D3, it is clear that we gain progress to the finals,” Smith wrote in a message to his supporters. “While that is a disappointing result, our movement has influenced substantial in the agenda and political discourse not only in D3, but in all San José.”
But despite the strong performance of Chávez-López on the field full of people, its part of 29.9% of the vote was not enough to give it a direct victory. Unless a candidate received more than 50% of the votes, the electoral rules forced the two main candidates to advance to a second round of June 24.
Tordillos and Quevedo have changed the second and third place several times from the elections of April 8, when Quevedo had an advantage of 159 votes.
As the results are, Tordillos has received 2,000 votes, or 22.18%.
The Santa Clara County voters registrar will continue to count the tickets by mail until Tuesday, as long as they were in Masterina on April 8. If the results are still so tight, a recount is triggered as a dictation application of Marcy for counts or where that margin is less than 25 total votes.
The final results are expected to be certified before April 28.
While Chávez-López does not know who his next challenger will be, he told Mercury News last week that the final results would not have any Abejo in his campaign, since he is focused on his platform and connect with voters who supported Eather Kandidates.
“We are at full speed in runoff,” said Chavez-López on Friday. “What we have to do our legs, and the message we have on the legs sharing, is clearly resonating with voters, so we are focused on continuing that impulse.”
