
A man from New Mexico was sentenced on Monday, April 14 to more than four years in a federal prison after he declared himself guilty of lending flames to a Yucaipa and preschool church last year.
Jonathan Barajas Nava, 37, was sentenced to four years and three months and has to pay $ 7,008 in restitution after he declared himself guilty in January of damaging the Church of Retiro and Yucaipa Christian Pre -Cechol, according to the United States Department of Justice.
Nava poured gasoline from a nearby service station at the front of the church and set it on fire while the children and staff were within April 24, 2024, according to their guilt agreement.
The fire damaged the church carpet, the vrame and the outdoor carpet while the staff and children evacuated. Nava then went to a nearby shopping center and set fire to a wall, according to its PLAA agreement.
He was arrested later that day and said in his guilt agreement that attacked the Church for religious reasons.
