After 38 months of silence, legal obstacles and complaints, the members of the Uvald Cisd Board unanimously voted in favor of releasing the records of the horrible mass shooting in Robb Elementary.

“These lawyers representing the County of UCISD and Uvalde finally work for taxpayers … the more this happens, the more expenses the taxpayers are incurring,” said Garza.
The Board reached a decision after approximately 50 minutes in a closed session where they heard from the public.
The vote occurs after a period of legal resistance and appeals in the midst of the ongoing investigations.
The families of the victims who attended said the moment was a longer step towards healing.

“For more than three years, families like mine lived with unbearable pain, unanswered questions and a silence that feels like another against Kayal,” said Gloria Cazares, a 9 -year -old Jackie Cazares mother.

“It’s about making sure what happens to my daughter never happens to another child,” Cazares said. “I am here today to demand the truth. All others to Jackie, his classmates, his teachers.”

The Board apologized collectively, and several members expressed regret for their previous inaction, showing an institutional change, not only compliance.

Berinda Areola urged his healing to begin when the records are launched.
“There is nothing in those records that can hurt us more than the pain we have already suffered,” said Areola.
The secretary of the Board, Jesse Rizo, who lost a niece in the tragedy, apologized the duration of the meeting, saying: “I’m sorry, toke so much. I regret to have failed you.”
