Guy Fieri was rushed into emergency surgery after skipping a series of steps and tearing his quadriceps in half.
During an interview with Fox News Digital, the Food Network star explained that she is currently in a wheelchair and uses crutches.
“[I] I slid down a set of steps, one foot going forward and the other caught in the threshold. So, you know, he extended me. It looked like I was probably doing the splits, but when my right leg compressed at the delivery point and the doctor said he’d never seen, you know, in 20 years, he’d never seen a tear in the biggest, thickest part of your quad in the middle. Yeah, it sucked,” Fieri said.

He explained that he was rushed into surgery after the fall to make sure his muscles didn’t “regress.”

“Normally you tear that muscle in the tendon or the tendon comes off the bone, but this was right in the center of the entire quadriceps muscle and it exploded,” Fieri said.

The chef explained that he was in the middle of filming his new show, “Flavor Town Food Fight,” when the fall and surgery occurred.
“So, right in the middle of filming, we have everyone in town and all the chefs there and 125 people on set, and everyone is ready to go, and I’m in surgery. So we figured out how to move forward and have some creative filming techniques. But it’s been a race, and now I’m here on the ranch, where it’s always about hiking and outdoor activities, and you know, beautiful,” Fieri said, explaining that his injury has been a “buffer.”

“Oh, it’s going to affect him because I’m on crutches and in a wheelchair. I mean, I have to not do it and everything. I can’t walk with him for eight weeks. So it was funny. My son, Ryder, texted me from school and said, ‘Well, I guess with all the training you’ve given me and all the cooking I’ve been doing while I was in school, it was going to be my time to shine.’ And I said, ‘I’m so happy you’re asking me about this instead of I told you that you have to do it,'” Fieri said.

The professional chef plans to pass the baton to his two sons, Hunter and Ryder, and nephew Jules, this holiday season.
“So, I have my three kids, Hunter, Ryder and Jules, and they all know how to cook. And now it’s going to be me quarterbacking them from the wheelchair and telling them what to do. And we cook for about 40 people here. So it’s going to be an adventure,” Fieri said.

“Eight weeks without weight, crutches and a cast and then rehab, which for me I want to finish as quickly as possible. He tells me, ‘You know no matter how much you want to, go back to being Guy, you’re really going to have to go through everything.’ [it].'”
“I haven’t broken anything. I mean, I broke everything when I was a kid. I broke my leg, I broke my knee, I broke my wrist, I broke my sternum, my ribs, my tailbone. I mean, you know, you name it, I broke it. But I’m done doing that shit. You know, I was done with that type of behavior a long time ago,” Fieri said.
