Justin HartleyColter Shaw made a rare revelation on CBS Tracker about why he’s not married yet.
During the Sunday, November 9, episode of the show, Colter’s next case took him to a lawless town in the Arizona desert, where a man went missing. Colter’s investigation uncovered a hidden relationship that left him trapped alone in the desert. He found his way back to the city and began working with the head of the police department.
“No, I’m not married,” he explained. “I never had room for it.”
While Colter was asked if he “had some close calls” that would have sent him to the wedding altar, the survivor avoided answering the question. This is not the first time that Colter comments on his personal life, although without many details and prioritizing his career.
Season 2 brought back Colter’s love interest, Billie (Sofia Pernas) back into his life before being asked if he had someone he considered the one. Colter avoided that question, which came up two episodes after he hooked up with Billie.
Pernas, 36, originally joined her husband’s new show when it premiered in 2024. Before TrackerHartley, 48, worked with Pernas on The young and the restless in 2015. Years later, they reconnected off-screen and exchanged vows in 2021. They also collaborated on the short-lived quantum leap reboot

“She’s wonderful. I mean, if I had the choice, I would spend every minute with her,” Hartley told Us Weekly in July 2024 about working with his wife. “What’s really cool is when you meet someone who means a lot to you, who you’re very proud to be with and who you’re very proud of, and you’re a big fan of her work and being able to watch her, because she’s a very talented actress. She elevates the scenes, and that makes my job easier, actually. But yeah, she’s just wonderful to work with.”
While Hartley hasn’t confirmed how often Pernas would return to the series, he recently opened up about the highlights that come with working alongside his wife.
“I enjoy being around her. I’m having the time of my life with this show,” Hartley told USA Today earlier this year. “I love it. Being able to share it with the people you love makes it even better.”
Executive producer Elwood Reid recently confirmed to Us that Pernas will return for Season 3, saying in October, “She’s coming back. We’ve got a really good, spicy midseason finale and Billie’s coming back in the winter premiere.”
Just because Pernas is reprising her role as Billie doesn’t mean Colter will finally settle down.
“It’s complicated because he’s never in one place for very long. These are conversations I have with Justin all the time. One thing that I think makes the show work is that at the beginning of each episode, you get an emotional hook with Colter about his desire to help the person who asked him for help,” Reid explained. “It feels weird when he says, ‘Hey, wait a minute, I’m going to do a five-minute ass call in the middle of the episode.’ So that’s something we haven’t been doing.”
Tracker airs on CBS Sundays at 8:30 pm ET. New episodes stream the next day on Paramount+.
