San Jose – The Captain of San Jose Sharks, Logan Couture, will hold a press conference on Tuesday to announce that he cannot continue his career as a player.
Treating with a painful injury called Pubis Osteitis, Couture, 36, has not played a NHL game this season and has been out of the alignment of sharks since January 31, 2024.
After playing only six games and lost the last three months of the 2023-24 season, Couture hoped to resume the skating last summer in an effort to return this season. But Couture, although it is still close to the team for at least the first half of this season, has not been able to resume ice training.
Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff first reported the details of the Couture announcement.
Couture was recruited ninth in general by sharks in 2007 and has played in 933 games in the NHL, all with San José. In the list of all shark times, Couture is fourth at points (701), third in goals (323) and fifth in assists (378).
The general manager of Couture and Sharks, Mike Grier, will hold a joint press conference on Tuesday at SAP Center at 1:30 PM
Couture is in the sixth year of an eight -year contract and $ 64 million that he signed with sharks in July 2018, a year before becoming a free agent without restrictions.
